Apart from keeping you fit, it also improves stamina, flexibility, mental balance and strength. Yoga is beneficial for both body and mind, as it is said to remove mental stress and anxiety as well.
The various exercises in yoga are called 'Asanas', depending upon their poses. Every Asana has its own benefit and meant for a particular part of the body or to cure a particular disease. Yes, Yoga can cure diseases too. It is said that many diseases could be cured by regular practice of the particular asana meant for that particular disease. Some Asanas are quite easy but as someone goes deeper they become more complicated and tough too. Some asanas are only breathing exercises and can be done by person of any age group. These exercises are meant to cure breathing related problems like cough, asthma, sinuousities etc.
The main advantage of yoga is that, if done properly, it don't have any side or ill effect. Yoga is generally done in the morning with empty stomach.
